Customer Service
How do I get/renew a library card?
Getting a library card must be done in-person (including children). You must have a valid picture ID with an East Orange address or a current, postmarked, official piece of mail to obtain/renew a library card. (No bulk mail, magazine subscriptions, or personal mail, nothing over 30 days old.) Library cards must be renewed every three years.

If you don't have mail to verify your address you can apply online. We'll mail you a postcard to be used as your proof of address. Simply bring your ID and the postcard to the library. Applying on online only applies to first-time sign up, not for renewal.

Can I check out books if I don't live in East Orange?
You must live, work, attend school, or own property in East Orange in order to obtain a library card. You can pay a $75 yearly fee for a Subscription Card if you do not live in East Orange. However, if you live in Essex County you may request a ReBL Card from your home library which enables you to check out books from the East Orange Public Library as well as most other public libraries in the county.
What is a PIN and how do I get one?

How do I change my mailing address or request email notification of my reserves?
Bring identification with your new mailing address to any branch and ask to have your address updated. You can add or update your email address the same way. Please make sure that @eopl.org emails are allowed through any filters you may have active on your email account.
Is there a limit on the number of items I can borrow?
